Civic Engagement or Bust
How do we inspire people to become civically engaged, even when the odds are stacked against us? That's what the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum works to do.
As a long-time artistic collaborator with the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, I was immediately inspired by their summer 2024 programming surrounding civic engagement.
We worked collaboratively to use organized movements of the past to inspire civic engagement in our local communities, especially given ourcurrent political climate.

About the art
We plunged deep into the archives to find photographs of different types of civic engagement in Chicago and across the nation to help capture the various ways in which people have been organizing for progress and the good of the people.
About the Programming
In summer 2024, the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, a historic landmark in Chicago, organized programming surrounding civic engagement. The culminating event was an evening of food, music, and storytelling, all surrounding getting involved in local and national organizing and hoe to engage for change.
