The Challenge

The team at Illinois Child Care for All was in need of an eye-catching yet data-rich way to educate people around the importance of quality, affordable access to child care for all people in Illinois. The challenge lies in needing to keep the viewer's attention while breaking down a multi-faceted problem and its solution. An additional need was to convey to the viewer that by investing in child care, that it actually benefits all community members, not just parents and teachers.

The Strategy

These days, video is the number one way to hold people's attention. Just think of what catches our eyes when we are scrolling on our devices! I knew it needed to be beatiful and fun, but that the narrative throughout was also easy to understand and digestable. I worked with Illinois Child Care for All to destill down the most impoartant data that would be persuasive to even the biggest of skeptics.

The Solution

I created an original stop-motion video that was as informative as it was whimsical. I took the color palette of the organization and expanded it so that I would have an array of colors to work with while still remaining on brand. I made the entire video out of paper, giving it a childlike wonder.  I also wrote and recorded the 2-minute voice-over script that breaks down the challenges that our child care system is currently facing and the solutions to fix them.
